♡Skinny Me Tea♡

Hello again guys! This time I thought I would post a review on Skinny Me Tea, which I am halfway through the 14 day detox of. I have always been curious to how this works/if this works. The purpose of the tea is to cleanse and detoxify your body. I was hoping that it would help clean out my inside after a couple heavy nights out and would also make me a bit more 'trim'. My friends and I started it together and our opinions of it have all been different.
On the left is the loose leaf morning tea which I have had every morning, the site suggests drinking this half an hour before breakfast so I'd often drink it as soon as I woke up because sometimes i can get hungry straight away. This tea "Contains caffeine & other natural stimulants like ‘yerba mate’ tea-leaves to provide extra energy, burn fat and calories, suppress appetite etc." as the site says and the leaves are not needed to be drunk.
It's ingredients are Sencha Green Tea, Yerba Mate, Dandelion Leaf, Ginseng Leaf, Lemon Grass, Celery Leaf, Nettle Leaf, Goji Berries (Fresh & Powdered), Açai Powder.
Personally, as I am a big tea drinker, I liked the taste of it, it reminded me slightly of green tea although it did take a little getting used to as the flavours are stronger.

On the right are the colon cleanse tea bags which you have every second night, starting on the first night of the teatox. The ingredients are Senna Leaf & Root, Hawthorn Berry Extract, Barley, Lotus Leaf, Lime Leaf & Extract, Psyllium Husk Seed, Phaseolus Calcaratus Seed, Rhubarb Root,Poria Cocos Stem Bark and the taste resembles more of a white tea and took a bit more getting used to than the loose leaf tea as the smell is more intense and the taste is stronger but once I got used to it I had no problem drinking it.
The night time tea is supposed to provide a laxative affect and the website says that the laxative affect usually takes 10-12 hours to set in. The morning after having the colon cleanse tea for the first time it went... well to put it delicately, my bowels reacted the way the site said it would. The second and third time I used it though it wasn't as smooth sailing. The site suggests leaving the tea bag in for 3-5 minutes but the longer you leave it in the stronger the laxative reaction will be. The second night I woke up in the early hours of the morning with bad cramping that was extremely painful and I then needed to use the bathroom before the 12 hour mark. The third time I used it I followed the sites suggestion of leaving the teabag in for a shorter amount of time so that my body could adjust but I still had an issue with cramps and needing to go to the bathroom before the time was up (sorry, a bit tmi).
I then decided to give my body a little break from drinking the night time tea as my stomach was feeling a bit sore. I am pleased to say that the fourth time I drank the tea after leaving it in for around 30 seconds it was a lot better. I didn't expereince any cramping at all.

With all this being said the tea has definitely made me feel cleaner and I have lost a couple of kilos, not that that was really my goal, but I think that is just water weight. One of my friends has actually gained a few kilos since drinking this tea while another one of my friends has lost a few kilos and also has a boundless amount of energy - neither of them experienced the cramping that I did.
My advice to anyone wanting to try the tea is to let your body adjust to the colon cleanse and also to keep in mind that everyone's bodies react differently, the tea doesn't necessarily work on everyone. I do also have to say that my stomach looks like it has a bit more definition. I would definitely try this tea again, maybe in a couple of months time, mainly because it feels like I am doing something good for my insides but at the same time I don't want my body to become dependent on the laxative affect of the night time tea. Just remember to look after yourself if you try it and to listen to your body.
I will post a final review of the tea a little bit later once I have finished the teatox.

It was easy and gave me energy plus they have nutrients in their tea so it doesn't wash you out...here is the link give them a try!

    1. Hi! Ok well it depends on how tolerant your body is, if you're going to take the tea (I suggest reading my latest post which is my final verdict on the tea) then start off leaving the teabag in for only a little while to let your body adjust and see how your body handles it as peoples responses are different.
For me, it was really bad. The first couple of times were fine but I left the bag in the water for literally 20 seconds whereas they recommend leaving it in for 3-5 minutes which I know my body wouldn't be able to tolerate it. The longest I put it in for was a minute and when I did I was up 3 times during the night because my body was in absolute pain, it is one of the worst physical pains I had experienced! This could just be my bodies response though. If you have any other questions feel free to ask xx

  4. Hi, in regards to the laxative, how long did its 'effects' last like, was it only the morning then you were fine? or did you find you were constantly on the toilet throughout the day? as i have work and i want to try it out but i dont want to be constantly running to the bathroom

    1. It lasts for an hour or so in the morning but don't worry, you won't be running back and forth. It might take two goes in the morning to clear it out of your system but the rest of the day you should be fine :) x

  5. Heyhey, I tried the night-time tea three times and experienced intense cramps too - worst pain everrr! But the laxative effect definitely worked.. does the laxative effect work just as well for you, when you leave the tea bag in for a really short time? xo

    1. Hi :) oh ok so now I know it's definitely not just me who has suffered this, it is honestly the most painful thing I can remember experiencing! The laxative effect still does work if you leave the tea bag in for a shorter amount of time but it doesn't work as intensely as it does if you leave it in longer. You'll be excreting less and will be on the toilet for a shorter amount of time but your body will thank you so much if it means not going through any pain at all xx

  6. Just wondering; wouldn't the weight just come back once the laxative effect is taken out of the equation??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yep, that's true and in some cases you may even put more weight back on initially before your weight stabilises again. The laxative helps clear out your system but at the same time it is making your body lose water and dehydrate you which will of course make you weigh less :)

  7. hi im just wondering how long did the laxative last as im not so sure about taking it?
i'm a carer and constantly on the move never have five minutes to myself

    1. The laxative effect SHOULD take effect 12 hours after drinking it (Some times it would start earlier than that for me) and when it is in effect it lasts approximately an hour or two in the morning but shouldn't take place during the day :)

  8. hello! i just placed an order for the SMT 14 day teatox, and decided to do some researching on the results. I am glad i found your blog! after you finished the teatoxing and lost a few kilos, did you gain weight a few weeks later because of the laxative? xx kelsey

    1. also what eating plan did you and your friends follow? xx kelsey

    2. Hi Kelsey! Sadly, I did put back on the weight I'd lost a few weeks after finishing the detox but I guess that was bound to happen. I guess I have accepted as well that my body will decide the weight it feels most comfortable sitting at.
I am already a vegan so I pretty much continued to eat the way I do normally, but I was extra sure that I ate enough of the good stuff but also made surer to treat myself ever so often which has proven to be the the easiest way to ward of cravings and 'binges'.
My friends who aren't vegan tried to follow the eating plan that the website suggests - they cut out meat and dairy and drank no alcohol. They didn't follow it too strictly, as in eating particular foods at particular times of the day, but made sure they were eating healthy and wholesome foods.
      I hope this helps! xxx

  9. Hi! Ok ive been skeptical about buying SMT. Does it really work? I have been working out and I can't lose these few extra pounds. Do you think SMT will help? Or will I gain the weight back? Thanks xx Channelle

    1. If I am 100% honest, I do not recommend using SMT. The main consensus from myself and my friends is that it is just another weight loss fad. Although I do not know you, I personally don't think that it will help as you would put the weight back on afterwards. Continue to have a balanced diet, ensuring you are getting all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs and continue to be active. Remember that your main concern is to look after your body :) xx

  10. Regularly drinking tea will definitely benefit your health. What I like the most about this beverage is that the flavors are just amazing; did I mention there are literally thousands of them? The aroma alone is enough to entice you to sit down and have a relaxing time. I hope you continue drinking tea regularly! :)

  11. Great review, Billie. Glad you had good experiences. I saw your comment about adding the weight back on after the teatox. Do you think that was because you went back to your old way of eating (although you are a vegan!) Or do you think the tea was helping you lose kilos but only while you were on it? teatox

    1. Thanks for the comment! This is a good question :)
Honestly, my eating habits didn't change after finishing the teatox so I think that, personally, the tea aided in temporary weight loss only for while I was on it, which I've simply put down to water weight and clearing out my system. Thanks again for stopping by! x

  12. Hi Billie, great post. It's important reviews like this are available to those taking the time to do a bit of research on their choice of detox. Kevin is spot on - and tea-toxes can also be a fabulous way of launching your detox (this concept has been around for centuries), but not all teatoxes are alike. I am loving the tea with benefits range which does not contain the dehydrating laxative-esque herbs contained in other teatox brands. The TWB range includes supportive plans for encouraging a lifestyle change with clean nutrition at the center of this philosophy. If your readers are looking for a smarter tea detox alternative, they might like the TWB range as much as I do! www.teawbenefits.com

    1. Thank you! It's good that a teatox is being offered that doesn't sell the tea that has the laxative effect, as I think they steer people in the wrong direction. Thanks for the comment x
