♡Final Skinny Me Tea Review♡

Hi guys! Ok, so, I know it was a little while ago that I completed the Skinny Me Tea but I thought I'd type up my final review of the product. Again, I wasn't trying the tea to necessarily lose weight but to hopefully feel better, to ecourage myself to be healthier, to hopefully be more toned and I've always been curious to try a teatox. The fact that I thought I'd lose a couple  of kilos was a welcome bonus. Following the SMT instagram and seeing people's transformation photos and finding out that my friends were ordering it gave me the final push to order some with them.

Half way through the tea I also decided to do some research because I wasn't feeling 'energised' after drinking the tea, if anything I was feeling sluggish. It turns out that the tea actually restricts the amount of nutrients your body consumes during the day and then gets rid of the remaining nutrients from your body through the use of the diuretic, which my body found especially intense as it gave me really bad cramps and really hurt my stomach. I knew straight away that if the tea was resulting in me having this pain then it couldn't be good for me. My body also felt drained and weak, especially the days after having the night tea. I do have to admit that some mornings the tea made me feel better if I'd had a big night as it was cleaning out the gunk (for lack of a better word) but majority of the time this wasn't the case.

I did lose a couple of kilos to begin with but then I gained it all again which was the same case with my two friends, this is simply put down to water weight. Besides, it is definitely NOT healthy to lose weight quickly, the healthiest and most effective way is to lose weight gradually over time.

It turns out that the colon cleanse actually strips your body of the fluids it needs which means you will be left feeling dehydrated and the morning tea will leave you feeling flat, which it did to me and is the opposite of what the website promises. The laxative tea temporarily removes excess water weight from your body and also empties out your intestines which creates the look of a “flat stomach”.

Yes, there were days when I felt 'healthy' but I think this is simply because the tea has a bit of a placebo effect. The best way to be healthy and to lose weight while keeping it off is to eat the foods your body needs and to make sure you look after yourself. You also need to be realistic, it can't happen overnight. Something that supposedly gives you an ideal body in such a short amount of time is almost definitely something that will not last. At the end of the day your best bet is to listen to your body and what it needs and look after yourself! Life is too short to get caught up in fads like this that promise you the 'ideal body', your body is beautiful anyway!

If you choose to try the tea this is your decision and it's perfectly ok to experiment with it yourself to see what it's like but I thought I'd let you know what the experience was like for me. I'm definitely going to stick to my herbal teas :-)

~ EDIT: I also just want to add that I have a friend that did the tea and had amazing results but this is because she actually had more weight to lose, she followed a healthy diet and did lots of exercise which was different to her lifestyle previously. She believes that her weight loss isn't necessarily due to the tea but in fact the changes she made.

xx

  1. Thanks for this! I've always been uncertain about this tea and I've heard it's not that healthy for your body x

    1. No worries! Obviously I can only speak for myself and my friends as other people's experiences may be different to ours but I also have heard a mixture of reviews about the tea and health experts have commented on the teas explaining the bad side to them xx

    2. I tried Lyfe tea and it is great. It has Moringa and is full of nutrients so I never felt washed out and my body felt great. I lost 17lbs and have kept it off for 6 mos. I ate clean but didnt starve myself and it helped me to breakthrough because I had stopped losing weight with diet and exercise. Check them out.

  2. Hi sweetie! Thanks for your review. I've just started yesterday with the colon cleanse tea but then I kept doing more research on the web and found out really negative comments, as the ones you are telling here.
This morrning I didn't want to drink the morning tea cause now I'm really afraid of what might happen.
The laxative effect was really smooth and low (compared to some medical laxatives such as dulcolax) but I think it's because I left the sachet just 1 minute.

    1. That's no problem at all lovely! It's good to hear that the effect of the laxative has been good so far but I also must say that it was fine the first couple of times for me too, then it started to get worse.
I also have to say that your reaction may be different to mine but at the same time 1 minute, which you've left it in for, is a lot less than the time they recommend so you are probably right as to think that is the reason why it's been smooth sailing so far. If you decide to continue using it then please be careful and make sure you listen to your body as it will tell you how it's coping with it all. Good luck with whatever you decide to do and feel free to let me know how you go xx

  4. Excellent summary and I totally agree that this stuff is just another fad .. 10 years ago Oolong tea became popular for the same reason... then everyone guzzled green tea like crazy, and so on ... in the end it's about a healthy lifestyle - once one realises that, like your friend did, and starts eating clean and moving, all the things this stuff promises will *miraculously* happen as well - less kgs, clear skin, digestion, etc :)
    Thanks for writing this up!

    1. I haven't done research into other tea detoxes but if they are promising the same/similar results and experiences and have similar methods then they are not something that I believe would be any better than SMT. Personally, I wouldn't recommend doing them but if it's something you are eager to try then do so, learn from your experience :-) xx.

  7. Hi,
I've actually tried this and the day time tea did virtually nothing for me but the laxative tea worked nicely. It should be noted here that I have struggled with various stomach problems including IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which includes constipation. For people with these ailments the laxative tea is great and a really good alternative to other laxatives whose effects can last all day.

  8. I'm glad I read this before committing to buying their 14 day teatox program. I am forever being sucked into these sorts of things, so I'm glad I decided to do some research first. I guess I'll just have to keep on exercising/eating well and hope my tummy gets flat by itself!

  9. Hi hun! I have to admit I did enjoy reading your post and hearing different strong- minded and opinionated people's thoughts on Skinny me tea.
My name is Lucinda and i currently work as a medical and facilitated pharmacist and doctor in NSW (like you i presume?)
I too, have a strong opinion and would love to contribute my thoughts to this post. Non the less I understand the worry many people face about tea detox's such as SMT and the many other in the market.
Although, being qualified, I am easily able to recognise a dangerous product on the market and I can assure you and all the many others who have doubts that tea products promoting "health" are harmless to the body.

I would like to touch on a few key points that are very frequently bought up amongst topics of Skinny me tea and their products.

    Pressumptions and assumptions:
    - Many people believe SMT and other tea products on the market are trying to promote unhealthy figures, poor mindsets and eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia. (false)
This is not the case. Infact, I have done a lot of research on SMT with in the last few months and become close in relation to their work. SMT promotes healthy bodies and lifestyles and this is supported by their key motto "Skinny is different for everyone".

-The second presumption is that the products in Skinny me tea are BAD for your body!
Once again, wrong! As i have previously mentioned i have done close research on SMT and discovered the ingredients in each and every product available on the market.
Their most discouraged product is ofcourse the 'Colon Cleanse' as it is referred to as the "laxative tea". Many people believe the tea consists on unnatural laxatives that distort and negatively impact your body, when in actual fact the tea contains "Senna root and leaf" as well as "Psyllium husk" which are both natural herbal products that are 100% healthy but they produce a laxative-like effect due to the cleansing of the colon! Which is what anyone should expect when purchasing a "colon cleanse" product.
Here is a listing of the natural herbal and healthy ingredients in the Colon cleanse which promote health and are so often mistaken for harmful manmade substances.

(Colon cleanse ingredients- Senna Leaf & Root, Hawthorn Berry Extract, Lotus Leaf, Lime Leaf & Extract, Psyllium Husk Seed, Phaseolus Calcaratus Seed, Rhubarb Root, Poria Cocos Stem Bark, Valerian Root.)

    - The last presumption!
Skinny me tea is a "quick fix" and does not work!
SMT is in fact in no way similar to a quick fix diet. Skinny me tea is a herbal blended tea to promote and regulate a healthy body. The tea aims to increase metabolism, clean out your digestive tract, repair and improve bodily functions, help with skin imperfections and promote mental well-being. Skinny me tea is in no way a detox that eliminates weight quickly only to be regained as soon as you finish your teatox. Skinny me tea does cleanse the colon and digestive tract hence speeding up your metabolism (helping you to burn fat quicker and lose weight) and also gets ride of "gunk" in your colon therefore removing the muffin top or "water fat" which helps you achieve a flatter, toned stomach. This should all be done in conjunction with healthy eating and exercise in order to achieve results that will last. That is essentially a "detox" and this is why SMT is not a "fad diet". If you correctly following the SMT teatox and maintain a healthy lifestyle i can guarantee you will not pile all the weight back on.

On the other hand, I do urge anyone who decides to use SMT to be sensible, smart and wise.

I hope my opinion and information has been of value to anyone considering purchasing this product. Hopefully I have clarified that SMT is safe to use but i do strongly encourage you to try it out before forming your own opinion!

    Much love xx

    1. Thanks for your comment, I would just like to clear some stuff up first :)
There are people out there that believe SMT are trying to promote unhealthy figures, poor mindsets etc but I do not believe that personally and I hope that in this post it doesn't seem like I am.
You also say that the ingredients are natural, which they are, but the reactions they give some peoples bodies are not healthy.
I can only tell people my experience using SMT, especially the colon cleanse which i know, from personal experience was not healthy for my body. Something that makes my body feel the way that it did is definitely not something I should recommend.
Again, I gained the weight I lost as soon as the SMT was over, although I didn't change my habits after finishing the tea so there is no real cause for this apart from the water weight theory.
Thanks for your comment, it's very much appreciated! x

    2. "Water Fat"?

Fat is fat and these teas do not remove any "muffin top" fat by cleansing the colon.
Just the way she describes it makes it seem like a quick fix type of thing. Sure it will get rid of some water WEIGHT because its a laxative! But laxatives aren't going to remove fat.

If that woman isn't a SMT rep I'd be shocked.

      Delete
    3. Exactly! Tea hasn't been proven to get rid of fat at all.
Everyone I know did NOT lose fat from using the tea, some it did aid in weight loss but, as you're stating as well, is particularly due to water weight. This comment of theres seems a bit suspicious doesn't it?
Haha thank you for your comment, I found myself nodding along as I read it xx

    4. I'm so glad I read your review been debating buying them for ages, but a laxative is 100 percent a quick fix, think I will stick to cutting back and exercise far healthier. A laxative even a natural one probably isn't a good way to get rid of excess weight in the long run . Very helpful review x

  10. Hi, for anyone interested in doing a teatox I can highly recommend YourTea. They have a teatox called TinyTea which was developed by Chinese Medicine professionals and is 100% NOT A LAXATIVE TEA.
In fact, instead of stripping your digestive system and flushing everything out like SMT, YourTea nourishes your digestive system and gets your body working the way it would if we all hadn't caused some form of damage via unhealthy habits in the first place.
I was suffering from lactose intolerance after what I can only assume was years worth of gunk built up in my body, but after drinking YourTea I feel so much better, I'm hooked!
The biggest difference I noticed was that I no longer feel heavy and bloated after meals. A lot of girls report weight loss and increase in energy. I have noticed my metabolism has sped up and my sleeping patterns are a lot more regular.

Billie, I'd love to see your review on this, especially comparing the two teatoxes? So many girls are looking for a quick fix and ruining their bodies :(

    1. This tea definitely sounds interesting and it would be interesting to compare YourTea to SMT to see the difference, if there are any at all.
I will definitely look into the tea and once I know a bit more about it I will consider giving it a shot and then give an honest review about it!
I've never heard of it before so thank you for bringing it to my attention and I agree, so many people are choosing unhealthy options when it comes to their bodies, which I want to help stop x

  11. I'm also interwsted in this tea but would it be alright to just drink this once in a while? Like after a really greasy meal? Or does it have to be consistantly consumed for it to work?

    1. The website recommends drinking it every day when you're drinking it. Personally I wouldn't recommend drinking the laxative tea at all because although it sounds great in theory there are many doctors and health experts who have come out who have conducted studies and don't recommend drinking it at all. At the end of the day though it is entirely up to you of course :-) xx

  13. Great review, I was also thinking about trying this tea detox but have changed my mind.
You are 100% right, your body will tell you what it needs and losing weight all comes down to eating healthy and exercise and does not happen over night. Girls are becoming obsessed about weight loss in stead of focusing on there BMI. I hope many people read your review and understand more about these different products on the market promising you amazing results but not giving away the damaging impact you body will have to go through.

    2. I'm on my 4th day, I was feeling fine a bit better then I usually do, but on the 3rd day I was just sitting down relaxing and I all of a sudden got really bad cramps and dizzy, I ended up spewing up a little. On the 4th day (today) I woke up around 5am because in my sleep I had major cramps & I vomited a bit in my sleep (don't ask me how), which is why I woke up, I then went to the sat down on the toilet & blacked out for only a few seconds, then went back to bed & slept. But all day I have been feeling very weak & tired, also with cramps off & on still. I might continue it, but I'm not to sure. lol

    3. Oh my gosh that sounds horrible!! Vomiting because of it is ridiculous, something 'good for you' really shouldn't be doing that to your body! That all sounds similar to what happened to me but what's happening to you sounds a lot more intense. I really don't think you should! More doctor's and health experts have come out talking about how bad it is for your body and what you've explained here does not sound good AT ALL. I hope you feel better soon xx

  16. Hi Billie!

I am so happy I read this. I've been back and forth about trying the skinnyme and the flattummy teatox. I know you're right about slow changes and healthy lifestyle. I too thought it would be a nice addition to the lifestyle changes I had already made.

Also, I am a graphic designer and I would love to chat with you about designing for your blog. I'd be happy to show you my work if you're interested in a fresh new look :)?

    Thanks, Amber

  17. Hi Billie :)

I got this Teatox for Easter, instead of getting Easter eggs and chocolate.
Now, I have done some research, looking at reviews and what not. I've seen
    Good and bad reviews.
Now, I think for some people, they immerse the night tea for the five minutes and
Because their body hasn't had some sort of laxative before and also because they may not need one,
They possibly get cramps, bloating, diarrhea, tiredness, etc. Because their body hasn't adjusted to it and
They gave themselves a full dose (5 minutes of immersion) of a natural laxative. Maybe people could possibly start of with 1 minute of immersing the night tea and then gradually imerse it longer until about 4 minutes of immersion (Just to be safe, etc). Plus, any type pf laxative will give you thoes effects and also drain out the nutirents you need.
I also think that because they want you to drink heaps of water, of course your going to get bloated and put on water weight and then it's just going to get flushed out of your body with the night cleanse and you're going to become dehydrated and feel sick and dizzy, because you have lost the water your body needs, but also possibly electrolytes, which the body needs.
So in the end, I think it is just an 'aid' and 'detox', not something that makes you lose weight, because to lose weight you need to eat healthy and exercise regularly. Also if you stop eating healthily and exercisinh regularly after the 'teatox', you'll put back on any sort of weight because you've probably lost some important nutrients and your body with grab onto anything it can and turn it into fat.

This is just from what I think and what I know about the body and how it reacts and also eating healthier and exercise.

    Thanks, Isabella x

  18. I wanted to order the 14 day as it sounds so convincing. But being the paranoid person that i am i decided to find reviews and i am glad i read yours. I never try any of this tea thing and i guess i wont start now. I rather exercise since its the safest compared to the teas which will ruin your insides and your kidneys. Thanks hun =))

  19. I took this tea, however when it came to the colon cleanse I had pretty bad side effects. The morning after I has taken the colon cleanse my stomach hurt so bad like I had food poisoning, it was cramps coming and going every few minutes. I tried going to the toilet so many times and it just felt like I was constipated but after I finally actually "went" I felt much better. However still bit eerie to continue this cleanse
